Frequently asked about pilates
- Reformer or mat — which is right for me?
- Reformer adds resistance via springs and is excellent for rehab and progressive strength work. Mat is more accessible (no equipment) and emphasises bodyweight control. Most studios offer both.
- Can I claim Pilates through private health?
- Some funds rebate Pilates under "exercise physiology" if delivered by an EP, or under group-class extras. Check with your fund and your instructor.
- Is Pilates good for back pain?
- Often, yes — Pilates is one of the best evidence-backed movement interventions for low-back pain when delivered by an experienced instructor. Speak to your GP or physio if pain is severe or new.
